1. Provides emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio dispatch assistance to citizens, police, fire, and ambulance services.
2. Maintains police and public safety data files to provide support information to OSU and authorized law enforcement agencies.
3. Perform the necessary support functions (i.e., training to new dispatchers and other departmental employees as needed; summarize police reports; assist citizens with requests on parking and miscellaneous activities; review and maintain communications manual with revisions as needed; develop and produce computerized reports; produce specialized correspondence as directed by supervisors; receive and retrieve privately-owned weapons from storage lockers [lift and carry 15 pounds]; provide maintenance of equipment issued to the communications division).
4. Operates specialized equipment at the department (i.e., radio logger/recorder, parking lot surveillance cameras, base radio console, two-way mobile and portable radios, CB radio, scanners, variety of computers, national and state telecommunication networks, multiple line business and emergency telephones)
